Batman Vs. Barbarian

Challenges, yes that is what our lives are all about here. If it's not the boys subjecting me to what they like to throw in my way as I walk along life, then there is always their father to through his lot in too. This week's project, "Hey instead of ordering new seats for my car, why don't we custom make them." Okay I don't have a problem with helping Doug out with car stuff. To be honest I have always had a love for cars and helping him with them is no problem. However when I get nominated to be the one to sew these seat cover's together I have to wonder a bit. Where in Doug's mind has he ever seen me sew???? I will admit I did take one of those home ec., classes in school but, I didn't rate high grades when it came to sewing. So of course being the nice wife that I am said sure to this idea, like we were going to find the exact colors to match the paint job his car will be painted when this is all done. Now I know someone in heaven is really getting a kick out of this, when we happened to walk into a fabric store over on the upholstery side to yes you guessed it to find that they did indeed have that one color we needed. When I get this project done I'll post pictures.

The boys have been yet again throwing things my way this week. So the other day thinking that I was going to be a nice mother yet again, I decided to make them lemon bars. Since I had my recipes downstairs I had to go down and find my lemon bar one. Sitting in Doug's work room going through my box I started to smell something burning. Now I don't know about you but, if you smell something burning and you have three little boys wouldn't you immediately make the connection that boys + burning smell = no good. Yes, that is what I discovered when I ran out and found Connor with one of Doug's work light things, smashing it into the new carpet downstairs. Luckily for me it hadn't done to much damage. I'm just happy that I know that my response time is good when it comes to things like that.

I have to say that there are times when one of these boys will do something that just has me on the floor laughing. This happened the other day when Daxton who had just gotten into his superman pj's decided that he needed to do a little harassing to the little brother. Connor decided that since Daxton was running around being Superman that he should be something too. After finding Daxton's transformer mask he started trying to take on Superman. Well Daxton being really into superman was flying all around us. (with of course his sound effects going.) He took the mask off Connor and started taunting Connor to get it back. Daxton would run around in circles saying "come get it," while Connor would clench his arms and yell, and stomp, And of course that would only increase Daxton's taunting. I tried to get the mask back at first but, then found that it was too funny watching Daxton run from room to room waving the mask and then run circles around Connor saying he was superman and he was saving the world. I don't know maybe it's one of those you just had to be there moments.

I do have to say that out of the three of them Dougie's been the good one this week. I've still got my guard up, never know what he's going to pull. Makes me uneasy with this turn of events.

It's been an interesting few days and it's only the middle of the week, who knows what project we'll come up with next.

"You are here to serve us." That was what I was told this week, by a three year old. I still don't know what to think about his theory. I don't think that I am going to even comment on it now. Really I'm here to serve him, where does he get this crap from?

Okay I'm going to admit that I really don't have that same day and day routine that mother's seem to be able to pull out of their magic mother hat's. In fact I don't think I even got in that line the day heaven was giving that out. No I like to mix it up a little. Which can be good some days and not good on other days. Well I think I will have to admit that today was not a good one day for my great ideas of trying to keep little boys entertained. They did start this idea I just thought "hey why not make this safe." So I caught Dougie and Daxton trying to slide down the stairs on a bunch of blankets. Twenty minutes later I had the boys mattresses placed and everything nice and padded so the boys wouldn't get hurt if they bumped a wall. An hour later they are still going at it and I will not admit to the fact that I might have tried it a time or two. However the fact is this is one of those things that I know I shouldn't have shown them. I just thought that you know lately I have been catching them trying to use different things to slide down the stairs on. I just was moving up the moment of them figuring out about using mattresses. All I can say is at least they haven't tried the laundry baskets.

Dougie, Daxton, and Connor have been very busy this week. They have taken to fort building. Every time I turn around they are off dragging every blanket that they can find to go build themselves either a fort or themselves a castle. I got nominated to be their servant. What's new? I also have learned that I have no and I do mean this literally that I have no moments to myself. I became aware of this the other day when I kicked the boys out of my closet and told them to stay out so I could get dressed. I closed the door only to have Dougie start laughing and tell me that Daxton was still in there. I looked told him that he wasn't and Dougie continued laughing. Boy did I feel stupid when I discovered that Daxton was indeed in there. He was hiding on Doug's side in between the clothes.

The boys are learning new tricks and we are trying to keep up with all the latest things that they now know: weggies, wet wileys, noogies, and my favorite today Dougie playing sick and getting to stay home from school. Little did he know that if he was going to act sick, I was going to treat him like he was sick. I do have to keep making him get back into bed though. Maybe he won't try playing sick again.

Happy Easter!!

So it rained, but we didn't let that stop the Easter bunny from coming and hiding eggs. It was actually nice. Connor had to pose for every picture, Dougie saw me texting on my phone. He then belivied that I was in contact with the Easter bunny. Daxton well he really just had a good time trying to eat as much candy as he could. Can we say sugar high anyone?? I know that I only do this to myself...

We have had quit a few interesting days this last week. My couches finally arrived after many, many weeks of waiting. They hauled them in and left, I sat down then realized these aren't exactly what I ordered. So long story short, they came back and got them and now we are having to wait many, many more weeks for our couches.

Friday we had playdate with the ward. I took the kids and turned them lose. I soon realized that I was running from one child to the next. Dougie had a good time, at one point he had a couple of little girls fighting over him. He took it all in stride. Daxton decided that no one was good enough to play with him. Connor I ended up chasing him down after he took off with another little girl to chase down a garbage truck. Then he later discovered the restroom facilities and I ended up calling Doug to come get him so that I could watch the other two and not have Connor flooding the park restrooms.

I'm hoping that this next week will be a little quieter and I won't have to stop the boys from flooding the sinks, and chasing the boys who are in their underwear outside back into the house. Or chasing a two year old down the street. I actually look forward to the day that I can walk outside and the boys will just get into the car. None of this come find me, or look I can run down the street crap that they seem to thrive off of.

Barbarian on the lose........

So I have kind of slacked off a bit lately. I can tell you that the boys are still being just as active as always. Life is never boring around here. Lately there is always a moment when I have to step in between Daxton and Connor. We have hit that wonderful phase where all they do is fight. To be honest these fights are usually over the stupidest things that I have ever seen. We have the shouting fights, this usually occurs when one is trying to out shout the other. The loser of these fights usually comes crying to me about how the other one scared him. Other fights happen when one wants what the other one has, or the fights when one of them accidently looks at the other one wrong. Even Doug is getting tired of all the fighting that these two do. Dougie on the other hand thinks that it is hilarious to watch his little brothers fighting.

Cassie got an up close look at how exactly our little barbarian runs around this place. She got to see past the little innocent act that he puts on for everyone else that doesn't live here. Cassie came over for a weekend a while back. It was the opening day of Monsters vs Aliens, and she came up with the idea to take them to it. Yes good idea to take the boys to the movie. Bad idea taking Connor to a place where he sees it as a place to cause havoc. I spent the time chasing Connor up and down the aisle and in between the rows. At one point Cassie had to pull him out of the seat as he was yelling "I'm stuck." Later she stood witnessed to him running through the store and trying to jump out of the shopping cart. (He can get out of the little safety belts.) By the end of her visit I think she was agreeing with me that we can't take Connor to too many places anymore when he's got a lot of energy.

Dougie is still doing good with school. He's busy trying to put his teacher into shock. I went to pick him up one day and she pulled me inside to tell me she had to talk to me. I was thinking great what kid did he beat up this time, only to have her show me that Dougie had shocked her and the assistant teacher by writing word for word everything she wrote up on the board. He had done that before she could get to him and help him. They were so proud that they wanted to take him down to the principal and show her. She even said that they were going to celebrate. I was happy that all the work we have been making him do is now paying off.

Daxton is the one who put me into shock. I always thought that he would have the hard time being separated from me. No the truth is it's me that's having the problem. I have been helping the sunbeam teacher at church. When they didn't need one Sunday I thought here we go Daxton isn't going to go to class, boy was I so far off. Daxton walked away and went into his class. I stood there with Connor waiting for him to come crying out of that classroom. He didn't. So I had Connor and he wouldn't stay in the nursery. I took him out to the car to get a diaper came back in and met up with Daxton's class on a potty break. After that I headed out to the car and passed Daxton's class yet again on a nature walk. I know I'm bad because I sat in the car and watched him in the mirrors.. Yes I was stalking my own child, but come on I don't even know these people and they want me to just let him go with strangers. That's when I realized I'm the one having the problem.

Connor well he's been what I like to call a little hellion. He thinks that he is big enough to do everything Dougie can. When he's not fighting with Daxton he's following Dougie every where. He even tries to hug Dougie all the time, that doesn't go over well. According to Dougie, "Connor is one brave little dude." Connor has also developed the illness of never wanting to wear clothes. Over the weekend at Grandma's he told Cassie that he's to tough to wear clothes. We watched him one day run up and tackle both Dougie and Daxton. That is why we call him our little barbarian. He's smashing, stomping, running and destroying anything that's in his path. He even acts like a little puppy that will crawl on your lap and let you pet him.

The boys are still running the house and life is still going. I never thought that I would see the day when I would have to wake them up. It happened today. I was starting to believe that I was in the wrong house. The sun was up and they weren't. It was nice. Although they have that cold that's going around, but I think maybe it's a small miracle.
